Dear all,

to follow up on alternatives to restricting ALSO
membership to domain holders:

How about letting applicants send the snail mail
and having Registration Points do the local
paperwork? I have put up a dummy and an explanation
on a web page to clarify what I mean:

  http://www.icannchannel.de/alsodummy/

Please take the organisations mentioned as regional
Registration Points only as examples, possibly not
all good ones. I imagine ICANN registrars, ccTLDs,
ISOC Chapters, science associations and the like
could be suitable.

This is only the "stand-alone" part -- I agree that
it would be nice to integrate "Do you want to join
the ICANN At Large SO" in the registration process,
but, as I have argued, not as the only solution.

I'd be glad to provide answers (if I have them)
to questions about this idea.

Best regards,
/// Alexander
