Dear Bruce,
all of us we have to face reality. This reality is the way the world is and
the way an interconnect system works. You may have the best feelings, you
may spend the largest amount of money, you may gather crowds, if you don't
get real about these two things you will only lead them to their doom.
The approach of the ICANN is wrong. Not because the ICANN concept is wrong,
but because the people in there are in disagreement with a reality they
ignore. Instead of trying to understand the way it works, they try to force
it to work their way.
So, there is no sides. Anyone getting real is a good support. And spending
time and money really helps getting real. Then, there might be differences
on tactics, but there is unity on the strategy. When you consider what
Stuart proposes and what Esther, Pindar and even Mike came to do, these are
two worlds apart. Esther, Pindar; Mike are coming from far into reality:
welcome! however I am not sure which part of reality and to which extent
they want to enter it, but this is a beginning and I genuinely admire
Esther for her patience and Mike for accepting rebukes and coming again and
again. And Pindar for his gallant action: but be cautious Pindar, yours is
a new convert action and be careful not to into the tricks of some old rovers.
Stuart is just unrealistic: to start with he obviously has no understanding
of what a non-US government may be and the way it works. Nor the way the
Stock Exchange works.
This also means that any of "us" can also be totally wrong, the day one
proposes something conflicting with the very nature of the world and of the
interconnect system. The truth is with reality, not with any guru, leader,
dotcommer, investor, belief or commitment.
