I agree with Danny Younger.  The quote, mechanism, unquote, is another word for a room that ICANN will put all of us in, give us some blank pieces of paper, some coloring crayons (no sharp pencils because we might hurt ourselves), and request that we get busy.  They will come get us if they need our input.

At-Large Organizing Committee

Purpose:  Guide and encourage bottom-up efforts to organize At-Large 
mechanisms for meaningful, informed participation in ICANN by a full range of 
Internet users as recommended in the ALSC report. 


Denise,

You just don't "get it", do you?  You are pushing "participation" while we 
are screaming "representation".  No one wants to organize "mechanisms".  The 
ALSC recommended a "structure" for the At-Large (you called it an ALSO) and 
recommended the election of At-large directors.  You spent a long time and a 
hell of a lot of money to arrive at that consensus determination.  Are you 
prepared to turn your back on that consensus?  

Perhaps you can explain why you are disregarding your own conclusions on the 
consensus of the community and are instead pitching this drivel to us...
